The Social Democratic Party (PSD) chair Marcel Ciolacu said on Wednesday that the social democrats will most certainly have a meeting of the National Political Council, in which it will be decided who they nominate for Prime minister, adding that he will request in the negotiations with the National Liberal Party (PNL) and the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR) that the first rotation of prime ministers to belong to the PSD.
"Today, more than likely, this government programme will be completed on all chapters, Social and Justice. More than likely the PSD will hold a National Political Council today, where it will decide who will be the Prime Minister-designate, just as I said we will do, but the most important thing is not to build something without taking into account absolutely nothing, only personal interests. We must take into account first of all the will of the Romanians. I remind you that PSD won the general elections [in December 2020, ed. n.]. If we build something normal and take into account first of all the will of the Romanians, I am firmly convinced that it will be a functioning coalition and we will have an efficient Government of Romania," Ciolacu said, at the PSD headquarters.
He added that, since the PSD won the general elections, it is normal to demand that the first Prime minister in rotation belong to the social democrats.AGERPRES(RO - author: Dana Piciu, editor: Andreea Rotaru; EN - author: Maria Voican, editor: Simona Iacob)
