The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, is coming on Monday to Bucharest, as part of the series of visits NextGenerationEU.
The head of the EC will meet with President Klaus Iohannis and Prime Minister Florin Citu.
At 16:00 hrs, Ursula von der Leyen will be welcomed at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace by the head of state, and at 16:50 she will have a meeting with Prime Minister Florin Citu at the Victoria Palace.
Later, the three officials will visit Bucharest University Hospital, which is to benefit from funds from the NextGenerationEU program, and will hold a joint press conference.
The visit of the EC President has as a main purpose the presentation of the evaluation regarding the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).
"For Romania, the National Recovery and Resilience Plan is not only the document on the basis of which we will be able to benefit from a 29.2 billion euro allotment, but also the guarantee that investments and reforms will be our coordinates for the coming years. Romania is rallying, as is normal, to the objectives that characterize developed economies: modernization of transport and medical infrastructure, green economy, digitization. I appreciate the collaboration with our European partners to finalize PNRR. The Government is prepared to draw the funds that Romania will benefit from and determined to apply reforms," said Florin Citu on Friday.
PNRR is divided into 15 components that cover six pillars: green transition; digital transformation; smart, sustainable and inclusive growth; social and territorial cohesion; healthcare, economic, social and institutional resilience; policies for the new generation.
